The Perfect Saudi Day

What comes to your mind when you think about the perfect Saudi day?  Is it being able to traverse King Fahad Road without getting bogged down in traffic in Riyadh?  Is it the opportunity to stroll along the Red Sea in Jeddah?  Is it visiting a rose farm in Taif?  Or is it more simple and just being able to experience tranquility and peace away from the active pace of any of Saudi’s cities?  For me, I think this recent photo taken by Saudi photographer, Mohsen Al-Dajani really sums it up – the wide open expanse of the desert, a beautiful and heavenly Saudi sky filled with clouds and one by one, the herd of camels going by.  I believe this photo is one epitome of a perfect Saudi day.  My sincere thanks to Mohsen for sharing this magnificent photo

  1. I love the rays of the sun between the clouds and the contrast in colors.
Mr Mohsen Al-Dajani has surpassed himself in capturing the moment (ma sha Allah).
    It a perfect arabian postcard.
(could get all “artsy” trying to decipher the diiferent imagery coming into my mind now )
    Looks like pure freedom though.

Would love to experience the desert camping and bar- be- ques that I’ve been hearing about. Ooooh and quad biking up and down those dunes! Fabulous!

  2. Waw! What an amazing photo!
So I’d vote for this as a perfect day.

  3. actually i dont know what the perfect day to Saudis either …some prefer to spend their free time in the wild ( elbarr) some like to spend it in travailing by car to another city especially to a cost city…some consider the eid alfeter is a perfect day so on… to me the perfect day when i am being with my whole family with a special occasion to have fun ..

  4. Very much enjoying all comments and responses and looking forward to more.

  5. Beautiful photo!

For me, the perfect Saudi day is just being able to survive one day of co-existence with my friends from different cultures, and knowing that this place is just as beautiful as any when you are surrounded by the people you love and who love you back.

    Have a wonderful day!

  6. so true Diana!

My perfect Saudi must have tranquility, desert, clouds and camels!

  7. Masha’Allah. Now THAT is an awesome picture. As to the perfect Saudi day, I will not give my version as it would be gravely seditious. }:>)

  8. The photo looks a dream, a very vivid one. Actually, I find the photo very theuroputic to look at and find it removes stress.

  9. Jacee – you found the words which were eluding me — therapeutic and removing stress!

  10. For me the perfect Saudi day is spend the day praying (and remembering our beloved Prophet) in the Prophets mosque in Madinah. It’s so peacefull there.

  11. Lovely picture!

  12. The perfect Saudi day will be the day women are released from the mahrams. And finally granted their rights as sentient human beings.

  13. wow.. I don’t know whether to thank god for making it or the photographer for making it available. That’s an amazing shot.

  14. oh.. and 100% agree with Save the Women! The perfect day for me would be the day all the expat taxi drivers are sent home and the roads are empty and free from unnecessarily dangerous Indian and Saudi drivers, and the same day women are finally allowed to finally drive here (since any sane, educated, intelligent person knows we’re safer drivers anyway) :o )

  15. @Andrea – I agree with you. To me that is one of the most magnificent examples of raw photography.
