If you have been following my blog for a while you are likely aware that I have been a consulting writer for Oasis Magazine which is one of the best magazines that is owned and published by a partnership of Saudi Women! Additionally I am a strong advocate for empowerment and education of women, any women – not just Saudi women. Lastly as one who was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in Saudi Arabia I want to do all I can which helps promote and support organizations like Zahra which continue to spread awareness throughout the Kingdom about this disease and provide so many resources and assistance to women in the Kingdom who have been affected by breast cancer. Therefore if you are in the Kingdom or even the region, do make every effort to attend and participate in this noble event.

Oh how I wish I could attend this event! Unfortunately I will be out of KSA during that time.
Question went to Jarir bookstore last night looking for the Oasis latest issue but could find it; where else could I find one in Riyadh?
answered my own question by checking out the Oasis Mag, website I will look later this week while shopping at the Kingdom Mall or Centria center .
@Sabrina, if you are unable to locate one email me directly.
Yibrene’s Salon has them and Tamimi has been known to carry them too.

I’m glad to see that Princess Haifa bint Faisal is one of those women who takes action on cancer awareness and women’s issues seriously.
I attended a women’s health awareness day in the states, and had met a doctor there that had suggested ORMC in Florida if I ever had any problems again. So, when I found a lump a year or so later, I knew exactly what to do and I wasn’t afraid to go.
Education is the key here.
It is amazing the big difference and emphasis that is placed on information and education on all cancers here in the States as compared to Saudi Arabia. I liked how at MD Anderson I was expected to undertake a contract as a caretaker and had to attend various classes which enhance the ability to be a great caretaker vice a good caretaker. And it’s funny too…for in the States where the hospitals are naturally more stringent and rules followed you don’t see people trying to bend or break them by bringing in inappropriate foods or materials like you always saw in Saudi. People also seem to get it better that if a visitor is not feeling well, he or she really does need to stay away from the immuno-suppressed individual. This is a big challenge for nurses who are administering to cancer patients in Saudi…the cultural differences and perceptions of disease and treatment.
