Well ! All i can say after reading this blog is that a religion isnt defined by the rulings of government nor by inclinations of minds, dislikes or likes .Likewise islam is a code of conduct that was defined by a power far more superior to human minds and so it is not always possible to understand the reasons behind it. as far as i m concerned i know that music isnt halal but when i listen to it i dont deny it being haram instead i do ask forgiveness from Allah and ask him to make me strong enough to be a very good muslim .denying a fact doesnt make it right, simple!

@Lithium,

I am so very sorry to hear about the damage to your piano. That is really sad. I'm not as familiar with Jeddah. You might try asking at any of the musical instrument shops at the malls or even try calling the International School in Jeddah since they have a piano.

Anyone who knows where I can find a piano repair shop here in Jeddah? My piano was delivered to me last Thursday and is heavily damaged with misaligned keys and broken hammers... I hope it can still be fixed...

Also, any advice for insurance claim... Unfortunately my wife declared it only at $1,000 as the replacement value on the inventory form we submitted.

There are music stores here in Jeddah selling (brand new) pianos. The brands i saw are Samick and Yamaha, which costs starting from SR12,000.

I found a solution by purchasing second hand piano in my home country at SR4,000 (Yaesu - second hand from Japan), then I shipped it here. My employer will pay for the shipping cost anyway as it is part of my relocation entitlement. It is on the way via sea.

Cheers.

Wow I am searching for a second hand piano in Saudi Arabia and landed here, but found a great discussion on music and religion.

Thus I wonder how people will react with this first all-female Saudi rock band.
