  24. His name is Jacob (Jake) Liam and he weighed in at 6 pounds, 12 ounces. He was 20 inches long. I’m told he has a full head of thick brown hair, blue eyes (like most babies), long full eyelashes (taking after his Italian mama), my son’s nose and forehead. And I am very impatiently waiting for some pictures! My son has taken pics but he’s still at the hospital and forgot to bring the cable so he can upload and email the photos!

  25. YAY !!! How fun !!!

  26. Congrats. So, he will speak 3 languages I guess :) Arabic, English and Italian. That’s good. He can find a job easily :) at the American Embassy in Italy or at the Italian Embassy at KSA but I’m not sure if he can apply for a job at the Saudi Embassy in the U.S ?!
    Ohh just kidding :)

    coarser colloquial: Opoe
    effectatious: Bonne- Mamman

  51. Lynn – thanks for sharing.

    Thank you Tina!

  52. My father’s parents, (down to earth): Oma and opa.
To my mum’s parents (very chique) the: bonne-maman, et bonne-pappa.
Which, owing to unpronouncabillity by the toddlers we were, were altered into the much more endearing ”Bonna” and ”Bompa” and so popular with the (large) family that the next generation of kids are use it too.
    So there’s two more:
    Bonna
    Bompa

  53. I like Bonna and Bompa..and it just sounds so…well…Dutch! (smile)

  54. Carol!!! Sorry for not commenting earlier, but I’ve been internet-less for 3 weeks! Your new addition is precious Mashallah!
Congrats to you, your son, and daughter in law!

I called my grandmothers Gram and Mum Mum (long story)
and my daughter calls my mother Meema.
I personally love all the variations of Grandma. It makes it a bit more personal I think.

  55. Thank you Umm Sumayah.

I’m also finding it fascinating all the many words used for Grandma!

  56. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
