I’m going to deviate somewhat from my normal way of posting about a particular topic and this time turn it over to YOU, my revered blog readers, to be interactive and be the focus of this particular posting. I want you to tell me (and others) which has been your favorite blog posting and why! I’d like you to provide either the title or link of the post and why you think it should be cited as “The Best of Bedu.” And with your responses to this request I will be able in turn to create the “Bedu Top 10” posts.
So if you have been a regular “blurker” but not yet commented, this is time to make your viewpoint known. And of course your responses will also help me to continue to keep this blog informative and interactive.
In advance, I sincerely thank you for your assistance and participation. I look forward to your comments.

My favorite post of yours was on April 19 of this year, “Removing the Veil: A Saudi Woman Speaks Out”
It was a fascinating look into a Saudi professional woman’s life. it was interesting to see how far it’s possible to go for a woman and where the family “support” system ends, in her case with her husband not helping out around the house.
It was really difficult to pick just one post though, there are so many that I like!
One of my favorites is “Censorship in Saudi Arabia”
http://americanbedu.com/2008/08/26/censorship-in-the-kingdom/
That article was courageous and produced some good discussions. And who can forget the disappearing Piglet picture and the spin off article by Aafke about the Black Hand Society.

Molly, Saudi in US – Thank you both for your comments and feedback.
Thats hard Bedu, like trying to decide which Godiva chocolate is the best!
I know it wasn’t the best time for you,but I loved your post about your mil sitting by your bedside in the hospital, the Zam-zam water, and the bedu lady.
I also loved when your sil brought some nice food during your recovery and you told her” it was the best in the airport”
Posts like that make me smile!
As Salaamu Alaikum Carol:
I liked “Preparing Arabic Coffee” at http://americanbedu.com/2008/01/03/preparing-arabic-coffee/
Why? Simple: I have always loved coffee prepared in the Middle Eastern manner, but never knew how to do it myself!
Thank you Always! I think part of my healing process after the ordeal was writing about it and putting some humor into the situation such as being “ordained” with zam-zam water! I’m glad those posts made you smile!
Safiyyah – I’m happy to hear that through my post you learned how to prepare arabic coffee. Thanks for responding!
And for everyone else still “blurking” please speak up and let me know which post you enjoyed and why! How am I going to compile the top 10 otherwise???
I can’t answer this question– you’ve written so many wonderful posts. Why stop at ten? Go for one hundred, and publish a book.
One of my favorite posts is, “My Baba’s Saudi but Mama is Not…” http://americanbedu.com/2008/09/08/my-baba%e2%80%99s-saudi-but-mama%e2%80%99s-not-who-am-i/#comment-9283
This subject has rarely been addressed on the blogs, but it is poised to become a topic of social relevance (next to the issues of Saudis marrying non-Saudis) as more and more of these children reach adulthood and are able to voice their experiences.
I don’t know if I can choose just one!
My favorite posts are those that deal with daily life in the Kingdom – especially how it differs from other cultures, posts that include personal stories, and that inspire lots of discussion in the comments section….like, “No tattoos in Islam”… “SA, Islam & nail polish”… “Censorship in SA”… “The story of Moudy”… “Only Westerner in the ward”… “Training a housemaid”…
Any of these could surely be on Bedu’s Top Ten!
Marahm,
Thanks for your such kind response. Ironically in regards to the post you chose as one of your favorites, writing that post is what in turn led me to the opportunity to interview the Saudi man who shared in “Caught Between Two Cultures: Interview with a Saudi man.” And welcome back!
Nicolette – I sincerely thank you! And what I am seeing is that there does not seem to be a specific theme among favorite posts. I kind of thought that maybe I’d see some themes like readers picking posts about Saudi women and marriage but instead I see the favorites are very diverse in nature.
Thanks so much for your responses!
And yes….I want more!!!!
I like your interviews with Saudi citizens. I like to hear from real people about their lives and point of views. I also like to hear about Saudi customs. It is impossible to pick out a favorite but those are the type of subjects I particularly enjoy.
Thank you for your comment Valerie. I think you will certainly enjoy some of the upcoming October posts then which do feature some more interviews as well as touching on aspects of some customs too.
I have only been reading at WordPress for 1 month now. I can’t remember how I found your blog, but I have loved soooo many of your posts. I even went back and read some from the past. I wish I could read them all.
I love many that the people above mentioned. I love reading about cultural things, people, dress, religion…. I can’t pick my favorite. Sorry!
Susanne,
Thank you for commenting and I’m glad you are enjoying.
Yes….I hate to say it but in some ways I feel like I had a wasted 1.5 years when my blog was on myspace. I wrote so many posts but due to being on myspace had a limited audience. Fortunately all of these older posts have been transferred over to wordpress.
Ok. i had to throw my two cents in. I have only been following your blog for about 6 months, so anything before that i probably havent read, but my favorite one was “Don’t Know What to Cook? How About Dhub – Traditional Saudi Beudion Dish”
I think it was my favorite purely for the fact that my husband LOVES this and always tries to tell me all about it. I pretty much hate anything with scales, and this post sealed the deal for me. No matter how many of these lizards he brings home, i am NOT cooking or even touching those things.
As i always said i do love ur blog, all the topics are interesting, but my favorite is the post “My baba’s saudi but mama’s not….”
A lot of these children are living harmoniously with their fathers extended family, but others are living with their moms away from their dads mainly becoz of visa problems.
TPG – have any pictures of your husband preparing dhub that we can share? Thanks for your comment!!
Om Mohd – “My Baba’s Saudi but Mama’s Not” has really struck a chord with a lot of individuals and for various reasons. In its own humorous and non-threatening manner it does highlight some of the challenges and issues that happen in bi-cultural relationships with a Saudi and when there are children involved. Thank you!
