Saudi Professional Women

I have written in the past about Saudi women in the workforce and must say that perhaps in my earlier posts I was a bit hasty or harsh.  In those earlier postings I did not have as much exposure with professional Saudi women.  Since I have rejoined the professional work force I now interact with professional women (Saudis and others) on a daily basis.  Just like any woman who as a professional takes her career seriously, the Saudi woman is the same.  However in most cases, she also has to do double duty.  What I mean by that is she not only has her full time professional job but can also expect a full time job within the home as well in cleaning, cooking and doing all the various tasks associated with running a seamlessly executed home.I have learned that there are a number of different organizations geared for Saudi professional women which they can join and participate.  There are a large number of Saudi women engaged in a professional capacity in the area of science and technology.  They have established their own national association in order to keep in touch with one another and respective developments, opportunities in their fields.  These same women have  established their professional international network too. Many of the professional Saudi women who I have met recently include a large number who have graduated abroad from Western Universities.  Many have gone beyond their bachelors degrees and have obtained masters and doctorate degrees. These women are dedicated to their professional field of choice.  They keep themselves informed and they are proactive.Because so much is always heard about the Saudi woman as being repressed and prevented from having opportunities, I needed to share my experiences with some of the professional women who are making their mark in their respective fields of choice not only within the Kingdom but internationally as well. These women will speak with confidence and assurance when discussing their area of expertise.  They are also well versed on foreign affairs, current events, activities in the Kingdom and well read.   In the “for what it is worth category” most of these women do wear their hijjab b choice at all times and also have international drivers licenses.  These women are excellent role models for ongoing generations of Saudi professional women.
