Riyadh in the morning….
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Travel and Places
Most women in Saudi probably see more of the Kingdom during the night. This is due to the culture of women not driving and still being the minority in the workforce, men working during the day and therefore most activities to be out and about take place after dark. I had an opportunity today to be out and about right around 8am in the morning. One gets a different glimpse and personality of Riyadh. Yes; there are still the impatient drivers ready to cut one off in the blink of an eye and first to lay on the horn when they believe a light is getting ready to change from red to green…yet in the morning, you can tell that many of the drivers and occupants of the vehicles are still waking up. You see the sleepy looks on their faces as they sip their coffee. You do not see as many individuals driving with a mobile glued to their ear. The coffee shops such as Dr. Kafe and Dunkin Donuts are busy as can be with lines waiting for that fresh brew. And the city looks so different during the day. The stores while driving by look smaller and not quite as exotic as when they are brightly lit at night.Ironically while shopping centers are less busy in the morning hours and there is no shortage of parking spaces, most individuals still had a tendency to make their own spot closest to the coffee shop regardless of whether their parked vehicle might in fact block traffic! Oh well…some things don’t change!I enjoyed seeing Riyadh early in the morning and hope to do so much more often! If you wish to comment on this posting and not a myspace member, send me an email. I’m pretty open and an example of what I mean by inappropriate is that at one time someone posted links to anti-american videos and the like. My blog is not for anti-America or anti-Saudi bashing. Yes; there are aspects to each country or society one may not like but if it is going to be discussed, it is going to be in an adult and constructive manner!so, my email address for your comments to be uploaded is: american_bedu(at)yahoo(dot)com 7:56 AM - 0 Comments – 0 Kudos – Add Comment – Edit - Remove
