Life on the Farm

In an earlier blog entry I mentioned how some residents will have farms to which they travel over the weekends. Recently Abdullah and I had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful evening at a farm on the outskirts of Riyadh. The farms are properties which traditionally have a high wall around their boundary to ensure privacy. The first impression that struck me as I entered through the gates was one of lush green! There was thick green grass on the ground – an actual yard – as well as lovely trees planted around creating a tranquil environment. We had a splendid evening enjoying great companionship with friends, tasty food (BBQ) and music sitting outside enjoying the beautiful evening. It is also typical for the farms to have a house on the premises. The size and style of the house can vary depending on the owners tastes. Many farms will also have a swimming pool and other recreational facilities.
